Public Education

We now offer Online Class Registration

Public Education is one of the key activities of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. It is called "Preventive SAR (search & rescue)." We hope that through our efforts, people in the Rochester community will be encouraged to equip their boats properly, wear PFDs, fuel carefully, and observe the "rules of the road".

Our safe boating courses will not only improve your water safety and boating skills, they will also qualify you for a discount on your PWC or boat insurance with most insurance providers. Just send a copy of your boating safety certificate to your insurance agent and start receiving the savings!

Flotilla 45 offers many courses in seamanship and boating safety to the public. Our current Greater Rochester area schedule of classes is listed below. For questions about our public education courses, view our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) or e-mail our Public Education Flotilla Staff Officer.
